Extra-Curricular Activities

We offer a range of extra-curricular activities to give our students many opportunities to explore different interests:

Thunderbolt Athletics | Grades 5-8
The mission of Holy Cross Athletics is to provide the opportunity for our children to learn new skills, be part of a team, to have fun, and to make new friends in competition against themselves and other schools in our community.

We offer:

  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Track
  • Football through St. Phillip’s or St Thomas More’s football program
  • Volleyball through St. Bernard’s or St. Thomas More’s volleyball program

Band Program | Grades 5-8
We have a traditional concert band whose instruments include flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxo-phone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, and percussion. Throughout the year, students learn to read music, play and care for their instruments, and play as a group. Band students participate in a weekly 30-45 minute band rehearsal and receive a 15 minute individual lesson.

Bellin Kids for Running Training | Grades 3-8
Holy Cross Catholic School takes part in the Bellin Kids for Running Program. The team, which averages around 35 students, is coordinated by Mrs. Heidi Martin with assistance from over a dozen parent volunteers. In preparation for the 10K Bellin Run, the students and adults train twice a week at school for two months, and work in an additional weekly training session on their own at home. The training process teaches many important lessons about the importance of physical conditioning, doing your personal best, encouraging your teammates, being patient, and setting and achieving personal goals.

D.A.R.E. Program | Fifth grade
D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches HCCS children in fifth grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug- and violence-free lives.

Forensics | Grades 6—8
Forensics promotes theatre and speech, and provides our students the opportunity to compete either individually or with a small group. In mid-January students begin preparing for the GRACE invitational meet, where they compete against students from all 10 GRACE schools and others within the Green Bay Diocese.

Junior Achievement | Grades 6-8
JA is an avenue through which the business community demonstrates its commitment to our students—our future entrepreneurs, employees, consumers and voters. JA’s purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. Classes are taught by local business leaders at Holy Cross.

Scouting | All ages
Interested in scouting? Several active troops (Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts) meet through the Holy Cross Parish Family. And if your child is particularly adventurous they can take part in Venturing Crew 9041. Contact the parish office for more details about Venturing Crew: holycross@new.rr.com.

The Holy Cross Piano Lesson Program | All ages
The Holy Cross Piano Lesson Program is a school-day piano lesson program committed to providing the highest quality instruction to students, maximizing their music appreciation and performance skills, and developing their sense of self-worth. Parents love this program for the convenience of school day lessons and the high quality instruction of Kris Skaletski.

Student Council | Grades 6-8
We are proud of our active student council, truly the leaders of tomorrow. Student Council, under the guidance of Mr. Jason Johnson, acts as a liaison between the HCCS faculty and staff and the student body for the sharing and implementation of ideas that improve our school community.

Talent Show | All ages
Every year our students have the opportunity to share their talents and gifts with the rest of the school community by taking part in our annual talent show. The talent show is one of the highlights of the year, with acts running the gamut from singing, dancing, and instrumental performances, to karate, jump roping and tumbling demonstrations. No matter what the act, the talent show is highly entertaining to watch, and builds our students’ confidence in their own abilities.

Youth Stewardship Program | All ages
Our Holy Cross Parish Youth Stewardship program is a tool to help teach the basics of stewardship to our youth. Stewardship is a decision we make to live as Christians and to thank God for all of His blessings by helping to take care of the church and the world on behalf of God. All HCCS students are encouraged to reflect on their weekly acts of stewardship.
